Thoughts: Due to illness and extreme weather, I wasn't able to get out very much this month. I am thrilled that I discovered the Patch Hollow trail. Next month my goal is to reach the pond. I am also excited that I finally obtained a map of some of the trails in Shrewsbury/PWMA. I hope to make use of those trails quite a bit in the future. So far, this winter has been fantastic for snow shoeing. Out of curiousity, I weighed all my winter hiking gear. Just my boots, coat, and snow shoes weigh 10lbs. When I add my backpack with water, extra mittens and hat, and other cold weather supplies, my gear totals 18lbs. Once I build up my winter hiking stamina, I should be perfect going into summer hiking.
